Clos Martinet 2005

Varietats: Garnatxa, Carinyena, Syrah i Cabernet.

Clos Martinet comes exclusively each year from the plots of the Mas d’en Martinet estate, located in the Vila de Gratallops wine area. The liquorella soil and the different exposures of the vineyard give it the typical nature of the estate year after year.

Over the last few years we have been increasing the local varieties: Black Grenache, Cariñena and Peluda Garnacha because we are convinced that they are the ones that best express the typicality of the Priorat terroir. However, we continue to maintain syrah, merlot and cabernet sauvignon as a tribute to the great work done by pioneers like Josep Lluís Pérez. We work with indigenous yeasts and we have abandoned what motivated us in the beginning, the technical knowledge of grapes and wine, to give way to a dialogue with nature, on the path of showing the pure expression of the Clos Martinet estate.

The harvest began in the last days of August, like every year, with excessive heat and probable degrees (through the clouds), around 15.5%. But, also as usual, at the beginning of September the temperatures began to drop and it rained a few drops… which stabilized the rapid ripening of the grapes. Thus, the plots could finally be harvested at a good time of fruit maturity.
