95% Carignan from a centenary slope, and 5% Grenache from a slope, on ground slate.

A very costly project. Ecological viticulture. Philosophy of minimal intervention. Vineyards that have a production of 100 grams per plant, which means that between 8 and 10 vines are needed for each bottle of wine. “Moreover, it is a very hot, very arid area, where we dare not to not have 100% vegetative cover, so we also have to plow with the mule that we don’t have and we have to rent,” René Barbier tells us when explaining the project. A very special vineyard, a vineyard of high heritage value. A highly concentrated wine. Mainly a Carignan wine despite having many Grenaches in the vineyard. And Carignan is costly, it needs time and patience. A wine of long aging, between 16 and 18 months in 300-liter barrels, but which finishes refining in cement and demijohn before aging in the cellar in the bottle for 5 years. An old Carignan, aged and very friendly.
