Venus Fontanals is 100% old carignan (50 to 80 years old) from a parcel in Falset north facing, very fresh and on licorella (slate).

The Venus specials are the result of learning limits of each of the farms in Venus. We like to know the potential of the grape seeking its maximum expression. At first, the specials were not intended for the market but due to their evolution and the unexpected result obtained, we wanted to share them with some friends.

Grapes are harvested, selected, destemmed and vinified separately. It ferments with native yeast, with slight pigeage during fermentation and maceration that lasts between 28 and 32 days. It is vinified in open 500 l barrels. and it is aged in used barrels.
